The new ASB 400 takes advantage of the general architecture of the GS 400, but it is dedicated to the sharpening of shaving cutters only to obtain a better cost-to-quality ratio.
The ASB 400 has a 2 axes interpolation software, which coordinates the rectilinear movement of the grinding spindle slide with the rotational movement of the work spindle. A rolling movement is generated, fully adjustable in rolling diameter so that pitch blocks are eliminated. Rolling and indexing are numerically controlled.
The two interpolating axes are equipped with direct drives. All other movements are adjustable by the operator through hand wheels and the set-up is guided by the HMI.
The NC-controller is based on the Siemens entry-level Sinumeric 802D SL T/M value.
The controller is able to command the interpolating axes C and X and is able to provide the operator a guidance for all the other manual set-up movements.
The two command interpolating axes C and X are switched to the auxiliary axes V and W during the grinding wheel dressing operation.
