Samputensili and MAG, two leading manufacturing technology companies, are joining forces to provide integrated gear manufacturing solutions, covering a variety of geared workpieces in different industrial sectors. MAG acquires the machine building operations of Samputensili GmbH in Chemnitz, in order to integrate gear cutting technology into its product portfolio. The entity has been renamed “MAG Modul Verzahntechnik GmbH”. MAG plans to continue the gear cutting machinery portfolio, retaining the complete functionality, services and know how to provide hobbing solutions.
Samputensili will continue to serve the markets with gear cutting tools and related services under the company name “Samputensili GmbH” located in Chemnitz/Germany. The Samputensili production units will be focussing on gear tools and multi-purpose gear manufacturing centres as well as its gear grinding machines for gears and screw-type workpieces.
The acquisition is further strengthened by a strategic partnership between MAG and Samputensili. The partners will coordinate their sales, application expertise and service operations for their mutual benefit. The agreement is accompanied by a product development plan for the joint development of new generation machining centers to combine hobbing and grinding processes in integrated machine tool solutions.
Antonio Maccaferri, Chairman of the Board of the SAMP Group, endorses the decision for the strategic partnership: "Samputensili and MAG complement each other in the best possible way, bringing together expertise in various manufactur-ing fields. Above all, we do not just move with the latest market developments in gear manufacturing – we are also able to set new trends which will change the way gears are made in the future. Samputensili and MAG are able to provide unique solutions in the gear manufacturing sector, including all processes from the soft blank to the finished gear."
Markus Grob, President MAG Europe, explains this move with the trend towards integrated solutions: "Both partners will benefit greatly from the partnership by expanding their range of offerings, allowing them to jointly open up new growth opportunities. This strategic alliance represents an important step forward for MAG in promoting its strategy of increasing core business activities by enlarging the portfolio and integrating complementary technology into its existing machine concept. On a joint basis, the partners will be able to process turning and hobbing operations in a single machine, thereby saving valuable cycle time, setup and auxiliary times.”
